Today was a new one! We were flying a KingAir from EGX to KCG but stopped first for fuel in the Lagoon. The runway is gravel, surrounded by water and mountains, treacherous on bad weather days or for unexperienced aviators. Our pilot made it look easy and this tiny copilot was taking notes. After touchdown, we taxied toward the airport, that essentially consists of a large fuel tank. As we pulled into park, the captain suddenly applied the brakes, jarring us in our seats. We were then informed we just avoided a strike with ground traffic, an overly friendly dog. Once we deplaned and the dog did his rounds of sniffing and approving the human (and copilot rabbit) cargo, he decided to take a nap next to his beloved aircraft visitor. As an unauthorized ground crew member, this dog is lucky the bush pilot knew to watch for traffic, both in the air and on the ground.
