Extreme temperatures are dangerous for humans and bush bunnies alike. Our next assignment was in the Interior region of Alaska, with temperatures around -30F. This was a very small village that does not have traditional roads. Summer travel is by ATV and winter travel is by snow machine, “snowmobile” for those outside of Alaska. 

How do you secure a rabbit to a snow machine in -30F weather? Bun Mom decided to use a hard carrier that could be strapped down, instead of my favorite The Hop Seat ™. She then put a cat cocoon bed inside and lined it with hay. Perfect! I loved the cozy cocoon! The flight was so much fun, and I got to see Denali while finishing dinner.  

It was very cold and windy when we landed, and a wool blanket was wrapped around my carrier when I was taken off the plane. Everyone was at the airport to greet me, they knew there was a Bush Bunny coming with Bun Mom. They all got Frequent Flyer Franklin stickers, even the elders were smiling!

Our driver helped Bun Mom secure my carrier on the snow machine. She hopped on and we went to town. I might not be the first bunny to ride on a snow machine, but I bet I’m the first BUSH bunny!
